What does it mean if a school is 'part of the Forest of Dean Trust'? 

When a school becomes part of the Forest of Dean Trust, they will join our group of schools, allowing us to collaborate and give all students at our schools the best education possible. 

Would the name of a school joining the Trust or their logos change?

No.

Would the joining schools uniform change?

No.

Will Ofsted still inspect schools within the MAT?

Yes. All schools will be subject to an Ofsted inspection in precisely the same way as they do currently.

Would schools receive more money from the government if they became part of a MAT?

The decision to join a MAT is not financially motivated.

However, as Academies within a Multi Academy Trust, funding is no longer be top sliced by the Local Authority for central services.

As a Multi Academy Trust, we have greater control over how we spend our budget to raise standards.

How would be coming part of the FoDT affect staff?

The staff in each school will be employed by the Trust rather than the Local Authority. Staff are legally protected and will transfer under the same terms and conditions, including pensions.

Who makes the final decision on whether each school should convert to an academy?

The Board of Governors.
